Why is paper the best option for straws?
Paper is one of the most earth-friendly materials available. These straws will biodegrade in nature whereas plastic straws are polluting our land and sea and harming wildlife.
The fiber used to make paper is from the wood left over after square lumber is cut from trees. Even the bark is used to fire the furnaces to provide steam for the paper mills. Trees are continually replanted in managed forests that will supply the demands without exhausting the resource for future generations.
Are One Small Sip straws biodegradable and compostable?
Yes, since they are made out of paper, which is both biodegradable and compostable.
What does biodegradable mean?
The definition of Biodegradable is the ability to completely decay naturally without harming the environment in under a year.
What does compostable mean?
Compostable is similar to biodegradable, except the process happens in a composting environment and produces compost as an end product.
Are One Small Sip straws sea-life friendly?
Yes, paper straws lose their rigidity in under a day submerged in the ocean and are digestible as they are plant-based. They will completely dissolve in oceans, lakes and rivers within 6 months.
Are your straws FDA approved?
Yes, One Small Sip straws are routinely tested to comply with FDA standards for direct food contact.
Do One Small Sip straws hold up with straw-slotted lids (starburst-style lids)?
Yes, but we recommend you order a sample pack and test our straws in your specific application.
How long do these straws last in liquids?
One Small Sip straws will last several hours in cold drinks.

Paper straws are not recommended for use with hot liquids.
Do you use bee’s wax?

Do they have any known allergens?
Our straws have three food grade ingredients; chlorine-free paper, soy-based inks, and water-based glue. If you have a known sensitivity to these materials it is best to proceed with caution.
Are your straws BPA free?
BPA is used in plastic manufacturing, we are paper-based and BPA free.
Are your straws GMO free?
No, One Small Sip uses SFS certified paper. Members to the FCS organization are prohibited from using GMO trees commercially.

What sizes do your straws come in?
Our straws are manufactured in multiple internal diameters and can be cut to any length. Diameters are available in: 6mm/0.24" , 8/0.31" , 10MM/0.39" 4", 7.75", 9" and 10" lengths are common.
What designs do you offer? Can you customize?
We offer many options: Unprinted, solids, stripes and other patterns are available. Customization is always an option with qualifying orders.
